This shows that Dick withheld class on the outside, even though the pain on the inside grew.

He was proud that he had finally done this. After the men on horseback killed Dick, the riddling of the body did not stop. The men kept shooting, and they were proud of it afterwards. This action by all of these men show the evil that is inside of humans as well. They found enjoyment out of killing. It was a different kind of evil that was shown through Dick. They did not do it because they had been fed up, as did Dick.


Graham Greene used the character Dick Prosser to show both the angelic and devilish sides of a human. Dick took actions towards or against all of his thoughts, whether right or wrong.
